Our tech stack

The stack behind the workWordPress · Shopify · React · Next.js · TypeScript

No religious debate about which stack is 'the best'. We pick the tools that fit what you want to achieve, how fast you want to go live, and who's maintaining the site afterwards. Below: why we pick each stack, and when we don't.

Our core stack

FOUR PLATFORMS, ONE APPROACH

We work with four core platforms. Each has a strong case for when it fits, and an honest take on when something else is better.

CMS · CONTENT SITES

WordPress

The workhorse for content-rich sites. Quick to deliver, easy to maintain, simple to train client editors on. Proven ecosystem for SEO, forms, multilingual and integrations.

Best for Brochure sites, blog-heavy organisations, multi-page brand sites, sites with many non-technical editors.
E-COMMERCE · D2C

Shopify

From Shopify Grow to Shopify Plus. Robust e-commerce platform with reliable checkout, built-in POS, and a large app ecosystem. For complex integrations we build custom microservices through Sircle Solutions.

Best for D2C brands, retail with multiple channels, international stores, teams that want to scale fast without building checkout themselves.
CUSTOM FRONTEND

React & Next.js

For sites and apps where standard CMS templates fall short. Headless commerce, complex interaction, high performance requirements, or internal dashboard work. Server-rendered, SEO-friendly and fast.

Best for Apps that feel like products, headless Shopify frontends, dashboards, sites with serious performance demands.
LANGUAGE · EVERYWHERE

TypeScript

Our default for all custom code. Microservices, integrations, dashboards and Next.js builds. Type safety prevents bugs you'd otherwise discover in production. Important for code that has to last years.

Best for All custom projects with multiple developers, integrations that must be exact, and code meant to last years.
Tools around it

WHAT MAKES THE STACK COMPLETE

What we deliberately don't do

No low-code builders. Sites you can't customise yourself, pricing models that hurt at scale, and performance you can't fix, we're not the partner for that.

No 'we can do everything' platform loyalty. If WordPress is faster and cheaper for your case, we'll say that. Even when it's smaller than a Next.js build we'd technically find more fun.

No separate designer and developer who must find each other later. Design and build from one team, so the site ships looking like the Figma file.

How we pick

WHEN WHICH STACK

Three rules of thumb we apply to every new build.

RULE 01

A brand site? Start with WordPress.

Unless there's a strong reason for a custom frontend (performance, animation, complex interaction), WordPress is faster to launch, cheaper to maintain and easier to train client editors on. We'd rather build 95% of a site in WordPress than 60% in Next.js.

RULE 02

A webshop? Start with Shopify.

How many experienced commerce teams build their own checkout? Almost none. Shopify is the base, apps cover 80% of the work, and for the remaining 20% we build microservices through Sircle Solutions that integrate seamlessly.

RULE 03

Custom in Next.js + TypeScript, or not at all.

Headless commerce, dashboards, client portals, internal tools, or a brand site that really has to feel different from what WordPress can deliver. That's where we use Next.js + TypeScript, deploy via Vercel, with content from Sanity or another headless CMS.

Not sure which stack fits?

HONEST ADVICE, NO SALES PITCH

30 minutes where we look at your situation and tell you which stack fits. Even if that means we recommend WordPress when you were after Next.js, or the other way around. No sales pitch, a clear answer.
