A brand film can cost 1,500 euros, or 50,000. Request a few quotes and you will get numbers that are miles apart, often for what looks like the same thing on paper: "a two-minute video". In this article we explain honestly where that difference comes from, what each budget buys, and what to check before you sign.
How much does a brand film cost? The short answer
The price mostly depends on how much thinking and how many people go into your film. These are the broad strokes:
| Option | What you get | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Filming it yourself | Smartphone, your own time, no script or direction | 0 to 500 euros |
| Videographer | One professional who shoots and edits, limited concept | 1,500 to 5,000 euros |
| Brand film with an agency | Concept, script, crew, direction, edit, music and a delivery set for all your channels | 7,500 to 30,000 euros |
| Commercial level | Large crew, actors, multiple shoot days, media budget | 30,000 euros and up |
Put bluntly: you are not paying for minutes of footage, but for everything that happens before the camera rolls and for the professionals behind it.
Why do prices differ so much?
A shoot day is roughly the same length everywhere. The difference is in what happens around it. A complete brand film production has three parts, and each part costs people time:
- Before the shoot: brand research, concept, script, location scouting, planning and call sheets. This decides whether your film tells a story or becomes a list.
- On the shoot day: the crew. One person doing everything, or a director, camera operator, sound engineer and lighting. Every extra pair of hands shows in the result, and on the invoice.
- After the shoot: editing, colour grading, sound design, music licensing and feedback rounds. This is where raw footage becomes a film, and it is often more work than the shoot itself.
Filming it yourself (0 to 500 euros)
For social media content your phone is often enough, and authenticity actually works in your favour there. But a brand film is your brand's calling card for years to come. Without a script, lighting and proper sound, you will see and hear the difference immediately, and so will your visitors.
Videographer (1,500 to 5,000 euros)
A good videographer delivers clean footage and a smooth edit. The limitation is usually not craftsmanship but the division of roles: one person who simultaneously directs, shoots, monitors sound and interviews has to make trade-offs. And the concept, the story your film needs to tell, often falls outside the assignment.
Brand film with an agency (7,500 to 30,000 euros)
Here you are not buying a video but a story. The process starts with the question why your brand exists, and ends with a film that makes people feel it, plus every version you need: the hero film for your website, cutdowns for social media and vertical versions for stories and shorts. The price rises with the number of shoot days, locations and crew members.
Commercial level (30,000 euros and up)
Actors, art direction, multiple shoot days and a media budget to broadcast the film. Most SMEs do not need this; this level belongs to national campaigns.
A brand film is not a corporate video
This distinction explains many price differences between quotes. A corporate video explains what you do: this is where we work, this is what we make, here is how to reach us. A brand film makes people feel why you exist. The first is information, the second is emotion, and emotion is what people remember and share. A corporate video goes out of date when you move office; a brand film lasts for years because your story does not change.
People do not remember what you do. They remember how you made them feel. That is exactly the difference between a corporate video and a brand film.

What should a good brand film process include?
If you are paying agency rates, you should expect a complete process. Check that these elements are in the quote:
- Concept and script: the story on paper before a camera is switched on, including a sign-off moment.
- Pre-production: locations, planning, call sheet and alignment with the people who will be on camera.
- A crew that matches the ambition: who handles direction, camera, lighting and sound on the day.
- Post-production with feedback rounds: editing, colour grading and sound design, with agreed revision rounds.
- Music licensing: licensed music, in writing. An unlicensed track can lead to claims later.
- A delivery set for all your channels: hero film, 15 to 30 second cutdowns and vertical versions, plus agreements about the raw footage.
3 signs you are buying too cheap
- There is no script. "We will just come and shoot for a day and see what happens" means that you are the concept. Without a story upfront you get loose shots, not a film.
- Music and licensing are not in the quote. That bill arrives later, or worse: your film is online with music you are not allowed to use.
- You receive one single file. A brand film without cutdowns and vertical versions cannot be used anywhere else, while that is exactly where the return is.
